Basically Gherkins is a Modified name of sliced bottled formented
Spiced and Pickle the cucumbers, which is delicious in taste and good for the
digestive systems. Our Products are available in different states and favours
such as spicy sweet and the sore etc.,
VARIETIES
The Spiny epidermis is in demand as in the Pickled form known as Gherkin. It is
cultivated and harvested for export purposes only as there is no internal demand
for it in our Country the Gherkin is sorted according to 4 grades depending on
the size and pickled in 3 different preparations according to market
requirements.
The Classification according to size is specified in Counts which denote the
number of fruits needed to makeup a kilogram in weight. The general
classification starts from 300 to 450 per kilogram as the highest in value and 5
to 10 as the lowest. In measuring the Volume of the fruit diameter as more
importance than length.
CULTIVATION AND HARVESTING
1. Selecting land: Once the area is selected for Gherkins,
Cultivation farm Land are checked for Soil Conditions texture level toxicity
mineral and organic Content, the availability of water etc.,
2. Excellent Seed Stock: The Procurement and inspection of
seeds is Very important. Since the disease flaws are harmful and should be
removed and approved seeds only to be used.
3. Disease and Pest Control: Necessary appliances should be
made to protect the seeds since the growth of plant is important and frequent
Visits to the land should be there. ‘A’ No- compromise- on- Quality’ approach in
all production processes and no “Allowance for short Coming”. In all business

4. Quality: We are highly concerned about the satisfaction of
the clients and manufacturing as per international standards of Quality of goods
and service. In fact high quality is the only factor which helps winning the
trust of the esteemed clients. Our well developed in house Quality examination
cell is capable for any task of the Quality examination as per the standards
specified by the Govt.
5. Harvesting: The fruits can be harvested when they are of the
size specified for the first grades which commands the highest price. One month
growth would be sufficient for this. Daily harvesting can be done for the next
two months without any break. Nails should not be used for plucking and Bamboo
baskets are compulsory for collection the fruits. Fruits are temporarily stored
in melted bags of Big baskets under shade. Fruits which are defected in any way
through disease, damage, foreign matter etc., must be removed. The first and
foremost considerations in harvesting should be the company’s specifications and
requirements regarding size and quality
6. Storage and Inspection: A rectangular shed with the top and
3 sides covered would be sufficient to function as a temporary storage facility
till the fruits are handed over to company people. A clean Tarpaulin may be
spread on the floor and the fruits spread out on it, for a last inspection for
disqualifying defects. Ventilation and protection from sun and RAIN are
important. After screening the fruits for defects they should be transferred
into Big Bamboo baskets or melted bags before the collection vehicle arrives. No
fertilizer, empty fertilizer bag. Pesticide or sprayer should be kept inside the
shed as these may contaminate the fruits.
7. Packing Process: For bulk packing, fruits are dry culled for
all defects and sorted grade wise. These are then soaked in water before
washing. Thoroughly washed fruits are sent over the conveyer Belt and culled
again for defects. Then they are put inside the barrel and natural Alcoholic
Vinegar Acetic Acid or brine is added per the specifications of the buyers.
After final Quality inspections are over 150-180 kilograms are packed in each
220/240 liter barrel and the barrel is closed with lid for shipment. Barrels are
made of Food Grade high molecular weight high density pdyethydene.
